3) Paul Knowles reported on progress re. the 150th anniversary celebration; the committee is meeting regularly.

5) Paul Knowles reported that plans for the golf tournament are progressing well; we still need some golfers and sponsors to complete those rosters.
6) Membership: memberships have been renewed and new members added. We need an up to date list of members.
7) The Board has received a request from Stonecroft Homes, who wish to purchase $1,000.00 in New Hamburg Bucks for promotional purposes. Since the accounting for the bucks is now well in hand, it was moved by Larry Zehr, seconded by Doug Brenneman, that we sell $1,000.00 in bucks to Stonecroft. Carried.
8) Paul Knowles announced that we have received a grant enabling us to hire a student for eight weeks, 30 hours a week, to staff the Tourism Information Centre and assist the board. Paul was directed to place a classified ad seeking applications, in the New Hamburg Independent. Moved by David Seyler, seconded by Larry Zehr, carried. It is hoped the employee can be in place by the final two weeks of June.

11) There was considerable debate about operation of the hot dog tent can and should we operate it during Sidewalk Sale Days and/or New Hamburg's 150th/Doors Open Waterloo? The issue is finding volunteers to coordinate the effort. It was agreed that we would like to operate it during both events, as a fundraiser and to raise our profile in the community. The executive will seek willing volunteers, and the matter was tabled until our June executive meeting.
12) Paul Knowles will check to see who is responsible for repairing the broken garbage cans in the downtown area.
13) It was suggested that a joint committee of local service clubs be formed to consider replacement of the 'Welcome to New Hamburg' signs.
14) David Seyler moved adjournment, seconded by Tom Hinz. |
