New Hamburg Board of Trade General Membership Meeting

Meeting attended by 34 members.

50/50 draw won by Jim Scott $67.00. Jim very graciously donated this money back to the Board of Trade.

Speaker Dave Schnarr was introduced by Scott Wagler and spoke on Family Business & Succession Planning. Thanked by Randy Thomson.

President Paul Knowles called the meeting to order at 8:30.

Adoption of previous minutes, Nov. 28/07 General Meeting and Dec.5/07 and Jan. 3/08 Executive Meetings; moved by Lynn Mackie and seconded by Jim Bishop. Carried.

Business arising from minutes; Paul gave a special thank you to all Board of Trade volunteers who worked so hard over the Christmas Season.

The Financial Report for the past year has not yet been completed and will be ready for the February meeting. The budget for 2008 was presented and accepted by the members in attendance. Moved by Randy Thomson, seconded, Tom Hinz, carried.

There was a lengthy discussion on the Bridge Bucks (New Hamburg Bucks), which are still in circulation with an expiry date of 2009. The executive is not able to find evidence of payments by participating members and the number of bucks still in customers' hands.

A suggestion was made that everyone in charge of an event be asked to write a report with all details and this could be passed on to new conveners.

New Business: 2008 is the 150th birthday of New Hamburg and four people of volunteered to look at some type of birthday celebration. We thank Kristin Hahn, Catherine Ritz, Nancy Ripley and Karen Weber.

Scott Pfaff was thanked for his expertise as well as his truck in helping with the Christmas Lights in downtown New Hamburg.

Stonecroft letters and the current edition of the Independent are available for members.

Two businesses were 'Presenting' at this meeting and had a nice display set up for members to look at. Kristin Hahn, Uppercase Books and Nigel Gordijk, Common Sense Design was also asked to tell the members about themselves.
