New Hamburg Board of Trade General Membership Meeting

Meeting was a cocktail reception by MeMe's. Called to order at 7:30 PM The 50/50 draw of $90 was won by Les Armstrong

Guest speaker for the evening was Randy Thomson. Introduced by Paul, Randy's topic for the evening was 'Concerning Law in Waterloo Region'.

Following the guest speaker the representatives of the featured businesses, DTI Diversified, and Aldaview, were introduced and were invited to say a few words about themselves.

Minutes of previous meetings were reviewed. Motion for approval, David Seyler, second Nigel Gordijk. Carried.

Business arising from minutes:

Kathryn Ritz spoke of watering the downtown plants during the summer. Several Stonecroft residents have volunteered and it is hoped that more volunteers will come from Board of Trade members. From June - September volunteers will be needed each day.

The tourist information grant has been received and hiring will be done shortly. The job will be for 8 weeks. Hours will be decided later.

The website is up and running.

The 150th anniversary of New Hamburg along with Doors Open is set for September 20 and plans are continuing.

Canada Day duck race tickets are available.

Golf tournament; please get your information and/or prizes in as soon as possible.

Volunteers are still needed for Cruise Night, thanks to Jim Bishop for looking after this, and the Hot Dog Tent which the Board of Trade hopes to have open for downtown sale days and the 150th Anniversary.

Financial report by Lynne Mackie; Bank Balance at present is $35,126. Also, Stonecroft has asked to purchased $1000 in Bridge Bucks for prizes within their development.

New Business:

The waterwheel:; Advanced Millwrights are continuing to work on this and will be meeting with Bruce Junker who has experience and worked on its problems from the time of building.

Light Standards are deteriorating and Kitchener/Wilmot Hydro will be doing repairs but this is a Regional responsibility.

Garbage cans are the responsibility of the Board and need to be looked after.

Reminder from President of Golf Tournament June 16 and our next General Meeting on September 24 with Allan Sauder, MEDA , speaker.

NEW HAMBURG BOARD OF TRADE EXECUTIVE MEETING WEDNESDAY, May 28, 2008

A short Executive meeting was held following the General Membership meeting.

After reviewing applications received a motion was made by D. Seyler to approach Haly Williamson and offer her the job in the Tourist Info Office. Second, L. Mackie. Carried.

The student will also help with clean up and Canada Day Planning.
