New Hamburg Board of Trade General Membership Meeting

65 members and guests attended the meeting. Additional chairs were set up for those who arrived after dinner was served.
50/50 draw of $120.00 won by TD bank manager Jim Scott.
1) Paul made the introductions of our guest speakers Brenda Jamieson & Charles Organ, who were accompanied by a traffic flow expert. They spoke of the study of future transportation problems to year 2031 and the various ways of solving these issues. The proposed New Hamburg by-pass and/or cloverleaf were explained in detail. Both Brenda and Charles left their e-mail addresses for the group. They are Brenda.jamieson@aecom.com and chuck.organ@ontario.com. After the question and answer period Paul thanked the speakers.
2) Minutes of the January general membership meeting were approved as circulated by Mike Schout, seconded Tom Hinz. Carried
3) Lynne informed us that there was 44 members paid to date and more current information would be available at the March meeting.
4) Paul gave a brief flood relief update. There has been approximately $45,000 received and more is expected before the end of February deadline. Money is now being dispersed and a full accounting will be given in early March.
5) A meeting was held Sunday February 22 with The Honorable Jim Bradley, Along with Paul, Greg Voisin, Nigel Gordijk, and Steve Wagler also attended. For a full report please see our website at www.nhbot.ca.
6) Paul presented the proposed budget. Motion to accept by Sam Lucibello, second Meredith Hagen.
7) Shirley Koehle is co-coordinating a committee to review signage at entrances to New Hamburg. All service clubs and community groups in the town will be involved.
8) A co-coordinator and volunteers are needed for the Rubber Duck Race on July 1, 2009. An additional representative from the Board will be needed to sit on the Canada Day committee.
9) Downtown garbage containers will be replaced in early spring.
10) As noted in the Executive Committee minutes a committee has been formed to make recommendations regarding the spending of our advertising dollars.

12) New Business. Sam Lucibello asked again about deteriorating light standards throughout the downtown. Paul will pursue this with Township.
