New Hamburg Board of Trade General Membership Meeting

Meeting attended by 40 members and catered by MeMe's.
A table for New Hamburg Live! Festival of the Arts was set up with information on this event as well as tickets being available to everyone. Nancy Knowles also asked that merchants with window space take a poster showing all the happenings for the time period May 20-24.
50/50 draw of $101.00 won by Tom Hinz.
Paul introduced Ted Seyler, who spoke to members on the New Hamburg Classic. This is their 30th Anniversary and they are introducing the inaugural running of "Hamburger Hill" which takes place on May 9. Races include a 1 km fun run for the 10 and under as well as the 200m dashes for 5 and under. All ages are welcome.
Josephine Clements, a registered massage therapist was introduced and she gave us a new understanding of how massage therapy can work with heat. She works from her home and is located on Good St. near Tim Hortons.
Paul introduced our guest speaker Leeanna Pendergast MPP. She spoke to the members for 30 minutes and gave us a review of the past 18 months as well as the Ontario budget. Following this she answered questions and offered to stay after the meeting to speak to anyone that had concerns.

Dave Seyler passed the minutes of the March 25 Board of Trade General meeting, second Nigel Gordijk. Carried.
Golf Tournament registration forms were distributed and Paul urged all members to golf in the event on June 15. There are also openings for event sponsors in the silver category as well as hole sponsors.
The duck race is happening with help from Cheryl Gordijk, however we do not have a coordinator as yet.
GO train update. As per the March 25 meeting minutes and a motion made by E. Ritz that NHBOT get behind the layover station. Ernie withdrew the motion made at that time until further information can be obtained.
Paul spoke to the motion made at the April executive meeting that new members only can buy a full membership now at regular price, and this membership would be good for the balance of 2009 and all of 2010.
MOT speed zones are continuing to be discussed. More information will follow.
New Business: C. Ritz asked that members help recruit applicants for "Ambassador of the Fair" competition, 17 to 24 years of age, male or female.
The summer student application has not yet been approved.
